COMPETITION WITH KIDZ KREATIVE ZONE
INTRODUCTION
KKZ gives our members the opportunity to challenge their talents through local competitions available in the Billings area. Some of the meets we offer to attend are: Spotlight, Thunderstruck, Big Sky State Games, and I Love Dance. Every member of the KKZ program are eligible for competition try out.
PRACTICE SESSIONS
Members that wish to attend competition are encouraged to participate in practice sessions starting in the fall season. The more practices they attend the more they will qualify for competition try out. Students are required to pass each of the qualifications to attend the competitions.
COMPETITION QUALIFICATION FOR TRY OUT
ATTENDANCE: Students that miss 2-4 practices in a row can or may be disqualified from competition try out or lose their eligibility to enroll or enter competition. We are looking for serious and committed students that we can depend on, not memebers just taking it for fun.
QUALIFICATION ONE:
MEMORIZING: Student must pass and memorize the routine. Once student memorizes the routine completely they earn 5 points.
PRESENTATION: Student must know how to properly enter and exit stage for competition. They must also be able to hold proper dance ediquette on the dance floor. This means no fiddling, can hold still, enters and exits with proper presentation, know how to deal with obstacles or errors during routine. Once student passes, they earn 5 points.
QUALIFICATION TWO:
TECHIQUES: Student must be able to demonstrate all dance movements properly and clearly. Techniques will include ability to keep toes pointed, turning out the knees, holding balances on turns and jumps, proper technique execution (especially in ballet and tap), proper tap sounds for tap, speed, consistant with the music, beat, and routine timing. Once student has cleaned up and perfected techniques they will earn 5 points.
SHOWMANSHIP: Final qualification student must be able to perform the routine using the fullest energy, holding energy from beginning to end, and keep a smile throughout the routine. Intermediate and advanced students will be required to keep dances sharp and clean with full energized execution of the movements and routine overall. Once student has passed showmanship they will earn 5 points.
QUALIFYING FOR COMPETITION SIGN UP
Student must have a minimal of
20 points to enroll for competition. Points are earned based on the qualification on memorizing, presentation, techniques, and showmanship. Once a member has signed up and paid for competition they may not miss more than 1 practice session. If student misses 2 practice session or misses the competition date, parent will be billed for for fees fined towards the program for replacement or changes of enrollment number in the routine and member will be disqualified from participation of future competition until they have attended minimal of 4 practice session without missing and fee is paid.
