INTRODUCTION REGISTRATION
At the time of registration we do require a $5.00 fee for snacks and water provided for all students in the program. Additional children are $2.00. Parent will be given a folder and file to review and fill out.
CLASS SUPPLIES
Introduction students are asked to wear exercise clothing to class. We do not allow pants (unless they are jazz pants), long sleeves, jeans, dresses, or regular street clothing in our classes. Introduction students will be encouraged to have tap, ballet, and jazz shoes but not required as introduction students. It will be required that students must have proper shoes and clothing for dance before they can register as beginners.
STUDENT & PARENT RESPONSIBILITY
In the folder there is a Student and Parents rules regards to participation in the KKZ program. Please take the time to read the rules and what is expected of parents and students.
PARENT MEETINGS
Please check our front door for notices and scheduled parent meetings. Parents must show up at assigned times for meetings. One on one meetings are to be held outside our schedule meeting time. Parents that fail to attend meetings or join the email list or visit the web site regularly, will result in missing events, dates, times, and locations. We do not hand out flyers on these events, you must bring a notebook, pen, and calendar to mark these things. We will still sell copies of flyers and a custom designed calendar book for parents.
---------- ABOUT KKZ LONG TERM ----------
Once your child has completed or passed the introduction test and have provided and purchased proper dance shoes and clothing they can register as beginning students. See the following information below regards to what additional options students have as beginners.
PROGRAM APPRECIATION (Fundraiser and Volunteering)
It will be expected that parents will have to do either donation or fundraiser and volunteering or donation. Due to the fact that the program is a non profit program we have to make funds somewhere to pay for class equipment, supplies and more. We also cannot run the program alone we have to have volunteers to help keep things running. Expect you will be asked to do these things.
CLASS SUPPLIES
It is required that dancers must have proper clothing and shoes before they can register. Parents can opt to purchase needed materials at the time of registration or register once items are provided and purchased.
BEGINNING DANCE
Your child will be introduced to all of the basic beginning dance in tap, jazz, and ballet. They do not have to perform for all three, but we do ask they participate in the class exercises for all three. Students perform either quarter, half, or full based on test scores. Scores are based on their knowledge on steps and techniques when called by name, are able to execute them properly and clearly. Students can use our web site for references to learn everything they need to know for their tests. Scheduled tests days are assigned or they can make an appointment for outside class time testing.
PHOTO SESSION & COSTUME ORDERS
Parents can use 25% of the funds raised in fundraiser towards costumes. Life Touch does all of our pictures for the program and parents. It is asked that all students attend the photo session. Students that fail to attend will not be added to our show program and annuals.
REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES
We have one required rehearsal per week and two weeks of rehearsals. Students that attend minimum of three days of rehearsal often do the best in the shows. It is up to parents and students how often they attend rehearsals. The more the better your child will do. 90% of our clean up and perfection is done during rehearsals. Show performance is optional, however it is required that parents must pay show fee or sign up to volunteer.
COMPETITION & WORKSHOPS
Beginners are limited on participation in workshops and competitions, however, we do highly recommend that beginners attend assigned competitions for experience and a learning tool! It is so much easier for students to grasps and enjoy competition as beginners then to train intensely for a year not knowing what they are doing and lose. We have had nothing but positive feedback from both parents and students that have participated in the competitions in the past few years. It is an event if your child really enjoys dance, they will LOVE the competitions. Competitions are optional. KKZ purchases awards and distributes them during our Spring Awards ceremony for competition participants.
AWARDS PROGRAM
Our goal in the program is to encourage kids to be focused, take on some responsibilities, learn leadership, team cooperation, friendship, be supportive and so forth. To help motivate our dancers we offer Stars Awards program students are nominated for awards based on their behavior, dedication, participation, and more. No other dance program offers what we do! It is rewarding for both parents and our students.

PROGRAM RULES FOR STUDENTS
Please make sure your child knows the rules
-
BE WILLING TO COMMIT AS A TEAM
Students should learn to be polite, kind, encouraging, and dependable and attend weekly as a team member of the program. Students that miss class, skip performances, rehearsals and more not only jeopardize the routines but the performance overall by the class and team. If a student is not willing to at least attend rehearsals, classes, and recital, it is recommended they do not sign up to perform for any performances.
-
BE A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL AND LEADER
As the student advances or gets older we asking that they become positive role models to the newer and younger dancers. This means at all times they are to keep attitude in check, do not show off, don’t brag, do not be snobby, rude, and compare yourself to others. We are a team we are here to help everyone be a part of the team regardless of age, level, experience, and personality.
-
BE RESPONSIBLE and SHARE RESPONSIBILITIES
Students are responsible for setting up, cleaning, tidying, and shutting down the class room. They are also responsible for keeping the room clean during class time, keeping their drawers clean and cleaning up messes they make.
-
HAVE GOOD MANNERS
Do not be rude to your team members. We will often have accidents someone will accidently hog up your dance space, bump you, take your spot and so forth. Be kind and nicely and politely ask them to give you back your spot, smile if you get bumped and give the team member a chance to say you’re sorry and so forth. Have manners in class.
-
BE ACTIVE AND GET INVOLVED
Team members that are inactive more than 25% of class and all activities we have to offer will lack in growth in the program. If you chose not to be active more than 50% of the program, please do not sign up for performances. If you wish to perform, be 100% active, attend weekly, be involved!
-
KEEP ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOR IN CHECK
This is not a dance studio, please keep your attitude in check we are a team, please have a team attitude. Behaviors also need to be in check, do not use the dance class time to chit chat, horse around, play around, distract or disrupt the class. Be focused, attentive, and pay attention to the class sessions. You have all the other days outside dance time to play and chit chat. We do want everyone to have fun but fun within reasonable manner it will not distract others from learning.
-
GOOD DRAMA AND BAD DRAMA
The only kind of drama we want is acting or performing arts drama. We do not want “bad” drama at any of our classes, events, activities, and performances. We do understand sometimes things happen we get upset, but please do not make a habit of using our fun days and class time for drama episodes. These kinds of drama belong outside dance and for the soap operas.
-
APPRECIATION
It is required that everyone appreciates the instructors, assistants, helpers, and team members. We do not require you have to like everyone, but we do require you be polite and respectful to those you do not like. Treat others how you want to be treated in return. Appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the team.

It is rude and uncalled for. Parents should also take this in consideration, regardless how bad your day, week, or month is, please do not be rude to the instructor, assistant, helpers, or members of the program.
